Area prospecting
Lithothamnium, a genus of seaweed rich in over 70 nutrients, thrives in deep-sea, nutrient-rich environments. To harvest it sustainably, locate suitable waters, consider natural or aquaculture collection methods, ensure economic viability, and assess environmental impacts to maintain ecosystem balance.

Collection and extraction method
The vessel planned for extraction is of the "TSHD - Trailing Suction Hopper" type.
Dredger", the material is removed from the seabed by dredging, stored in the hold and, once loaded, returned to the port for unloading. TSHDs are the main vessels used in Europe in the strategic segment of dredging marine aggregates (gravel and sand) for commercial use in the construction industry in countries such as England, France, the Netherlands, Germany, Norway and Denmark, among others.
Environmentally responsible dredging
New or modified dredging techniques attempt to minimize turbulence and turbidity to cause less disturbance to marine flora and fauna. An example of this is the “green valve” system developed for TSHDs that reduces turbidity caused by overflow during the dredging process.
Direct dry discharge and processing
The belt self-unloading system is the most economical, efficient and reliable for the type of material in the deposits and will minimize dust and noise during operation, in addition to reducing costs. The industrial beneficiation process consists of the unitary operations of drying, grinding and packaging, with the product being marketable in its natural state.
This entire process is carried out in partnership with ALGAREA MINERAÇÃO LTDA.
In 2025, it will extract and process over 700 thousand tons of Lithothamnium.
